Firestone International was founded in 1999 in Mumbai, India by
Nirav Modi, a third generation entrepreneur from a family that had been in the gems and jewelry business for more than five decades. |

| Realising quickly that value addition was crucial for gaining an edge in the highly competitive market in India, the firm began supplying pre-assorted and pre-sized diamond flutes to jewelry manufacturers. It then extended its operations into manufacture of diamond studded jewelry. |

| A fledgling outfit with just 50 employees in 2000, Firestone is today a multinational organization with over 1000 employees, registering a 35% year-on-year growth. Firestone International has established a strong presence in the US - it has controlling interest in two leading distribution companies, and manufactures diamond studded jewelry for some of the most demanding customers in the US such as Macy's, Zales, Kay Jewelers, JC Penney, Sears, and Sam's Club among others. |
